Did you know monkeys can redirect their emotions and use their brains to get what they want?

"I'm thinking banana."

That’s what University of Pittsburgh researchers found when they connected tiny sensors to the brains of two monkeys, restrained their arms, and placed tasty snacks just out of their reach. In a short time, the monkeys stopped struggling and discovered their power to achive the desired outcome by thinking and focusing. Attached to a robotic arm that they could operate with their thoughts, they overcame the challenge posed by their restraints. Soon they learned to feed themselves.

We think that’s pretty amazing.

We also think humans are pretty amazing when we use our brains to get what we want. That’s why we say Think Banana. And that’s why we have formed a think enterprise that can create unprecedented alliances between industry and education to take action and engage our world’s major challenges.

Even when it’s hard. Even if it seems a little crazy at first.

That’s right—just like those monkeys—we need to recognize what we want, what’s really important, and use our minds to get it.

Just imagine what we might achieve.

By the way, those monkeys helped researchers accelerate the development of brain-machine interface technology—prosthetic devices that will assist people with spinal injuries or other forms of paralysis to gain greater control over their lives.

They definitely earned a banana.
